The sensational case of the abduction of Jaycee Lee Dugard has shocked not only America but the whole world. Not less fascinating is how she was discovered.

The fact that she was kept by her kidnapper for 18 years, and even gave birth to 2 children in a quiet suburb, without catching the attention or suspicion of the neighbors, except on one occasion, is practically beyond belief.  It seems that the local sheriff was called by one neighbor on one occasion. He had seen children living in the backyard. Though officers spoke to Garrido at his home, no further investigation took place.

Phillip Garrido, a registered sex offender and the father of Jaycee's kids, and his wife Nancy have been arrested, but he has denied the kidnapping.

Garrido is described by his neighbors as insane, eccentric and highly irrational

Jaycee's step-father who was disbelieved when he told the police how Jaycee was abducted is now vindicated.
