Jeannie Buss - Will Phil Jackson re-sign with the Lakers for her?
posted October 24, 2007 - 3:37amPhil Jackson, the NBA Star Coach of LA Lakers has announced that he'll make public his decision whether or not to re-sign with the Lakers. His current contract with Lakers expires after this season. It won't be that easy to take a decision. There are many reasons why he should decide for or against the re-sign.
Reasons for him not to re-sign with Lakers
- Phil is 62 years old and his health is not that good.
- Other than his knee, hip and Arthritis problems, he's also experienced a painful bout with a kidney stone.
- He got 2 grandchildren and the third is on the way and he sure he wants to spend more time with them.
- He don't have to do it for money since he got enough of them.
- He's frustrated with Jimmy Buss, Dr. Jerry's son, who has been entrusted with running the Lakers' operation.
Reasons for him to re-sign with Lakers
- There's simply no other activity that could come as close to scratching his competitive itch as coaching an NBA team.
- He loves the climate and the casual culture of Los Angeles and feel profoundly uncomfortable living in L.A. and not coaching the team.
- But main reason why he might re-sign is his girlfriend Jeannie Buss. Jeannie Buss is the daughter of Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss and the Executive Vice President of Business Operations of the Lakers. Phil knows that his mere presence on the bench is a considerable factor in maintaining the overall value of the franchise. He sees this as a continuing obligation to his girlfriend Jeannie.
Check back here later to find out Phil's decision. For sure he will make an decision before the start of the new NBA Season.
