Jersey beats New England (again)

Jersey beats New England (again)

Does lightning strike twice in the same place? Not really, but it is uncanny that a few days after the Patriots lost the Super Bowl (their first loss this season) to a team that plays in New Jersey, the UConn Huskies women's team loses its first game of the season. To whom did they suffer their first loss? Rutgers, the State University of--pause--New Jersey.

Granted, it isn't like I'm expecting Chupacabra sightings over Vermont any time soon, but it appears the shine is coming off New England athletics. I fully expect drug rumors to saddle Matt Ryan as the NFL Draft nears. I heard Ray Rice is coming out a year early....

Like I wrote elsewhere...

Losing the Superbowl couldn't have happened to a nicer team. Bill Belicheat and his team got what they had coming. ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

This season

>> the games I remember watching proved that the garbage dumps weren't the only things that stank in Jersey. << This season, yes. But the Nets did make it to the Finals twice, though they lost (but I don't know if many teams could have beaten the Lakers and Spurs those years). The Nets also lost to Detroit in the East Championship one year the Pistons won the title, and the Nets were the only team that extended the Pistons to 7 games in any playoff series. Yeah, they're having an off year, and I'm disappointed, but after reading some of the bile in the Boston press about the Pats, I'm trying to be thankful for the good years Kidd and Co. have had in the swamp. Some of the anger and self-loathing going on in New England over the Super Bowl is just ridiculous. You'd think the Pats had paid off to lose the game or something, the way people are talking.

My brother lives in Massachusetts

I had to listen this whole season about Mr. Perfect and his Perfect Patriots. Now that the Superbowl is over--not a peep. Same with the Red Sox. With two World Series wins, if you listen to Bostonians, you'd think that the BoSox are God's gift to baseball. I used to watch basketball, having grown up in Los Angeles, but I haven't cared too much about it since the Showtime days. Kobe and Shaq had nothing on Magic and Kareem. For a while, I did hope that the Nets would do something so that Jason Kidd could have a ring, but the games I remember watching proved that the garbage dumps weren't the only things that stank in Jersey. ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

New Jersey vs. New England

Yeah, good wins for the Jersey sides... now if the Nets can beat the Celtics, that would really be something. But I'm not holding my breath for that to happen!
