Jessica Watson Attempts to Sail Around World at 16 Years Old

Jessica Watson, a 16 year old Australian, has set off today in her bright pink yacht out of Sydney harbour with the intention of entering the record books as the youngest person to sail the 28,000 miles around the world.

Both Watson and her parents feel that the dream of sailing around the world far outweighs the risks associated with the endeavor.  Read more about Jessica Watson, her trip and the debate carrying on in Australia about safety.
