Look, if you had one shot, one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted, one moment
Would you capture it, or just let it slip? Yo
His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's
vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready
Emenem
There I stand, bright lights glaring, jumbo-tron in front me positioned to give the people in the back of the giant stadium a better view. “Ladies a Gentlemen Mr. Edgar Gertsch” announces the MC. The crowd jumps to their feet; and in a thunderous roar fill the overflowing venue with a cacophony that is sweet music to the ears of those fortunate enough be on the receiving end of such energetic noise. The sound releases all that has been pent up inside me. I step on stage dressed in a custom suit that screams authority, oozes charisma, and invites comfort. I begin to share my story of adversity and my challenges. I begin to pour my thoughts on those who chose to listen and with a loud confident voice begin to motivate.
I share humorous anecdotes that inspire the soul. Like an artist painting his masterpiece, I weave together stories that will inspire people to create their own masterpieces in life. I share the story of my life being completely broken living paycheck to paycheck in debt and feeling as if I were a complete disappointment. I tell the story about how my addictions nearly ruined my already lousy life. Then, as if in a crescendo to a brilliant syphony, I recount the day I was alone in my room completely broken and decided to change my life and become the person I was destined for. I become a living testament to the power of positive thinking and following one's dreams. I finish my story in triumph, inspire the crowd to take action and become who they were meant to be. The lights go dim, and there I am having given another speech in one of a hundred cities I’ll never forget. I go to my luxury suite in my hotel and fall on the very forgiving king size bed and let out a large sigh. I did it again! Another perfect day, another day living my dream. Another day teaching people they CAN! I shared, motivated, and created hope. I fostered dreams in people and helped them achieve more than their heart's desired. I traveled the world, met the most interesting people on this planet, and helped people who needed just a little help helping themselves. All in a days work! I have the best job in the world. I am a motivational speaker!
