Joe Girardi Offered New York Yankees Manager Job

Joe Girardi has been offered the job as New York Yankees manager and is expected to accept, according to ESPN.com and ESPN radio in New York City.

Girardi will replace Joe Torre, who declined to re-sign with the team after being its manager for the last 12 seasons.

Joe Girardi was formerly a player for the Yankees and later a coach, before becoming a manager elsewhere. He was voted National League Manager of the Year in 2006 with the Florida Marlins.
