Ann and Nancy Wilson, the frontwomen of the 70's rock band Heart have demanded that the McCain campaign stop using their 1977 hit song Barracuda to pump up support for the VP pick Sarah Palin.

Other artists, such as John Mellencamp and Van Halen have also objected to McCain's use of their songs.

Guess that's part of being a maverick...

using songs without the artists' permission!

Maybe ignoring copyright law is one way McCain/Palin are going to shake up Washington.

He can't use the Napster excuse, either

He is already on the record as saying he doesn't have a clue on how to use the Internet, so he can't claim that he downloaded the song for his own personal use.

Marketing opportunity

Maybe Pirate Bay can get a marketing deal as the Official Illegal Torrent Download Site of McCain/Palin 2008.

Of course, McCain himself might have plausible deniability for the illegal use of Barracuda: since he knows nothing of the Internets of Woolly Wet Webs, he can say he wasn't the one who downloaded the song.

His daughter Meghan, the blogger, might be on the hook, however...
