John McCain & Miss Teen South Carolina on Economics
posted October 1, 2008 - 12:58amThis video of Republican presidential candidate John McCain was taken during the very first Republican debates--the one where Ron Paul absolutely pwned the other candidates, which led to his being shut out of ever other Republican debate and from even being mentioned by the mainstream media. Dr. Paul asked Senator McCain a detailed economics question, which should have been too difficult for the one who would be our next president.
As it turns out, McCain did to the answer what Miss Teen South Carolina did to her answer during the last pageant. In short, he gave a rambling, nonsensical answer that didn't come close to answering the question.
At the start of the campaign, McCain's economic advisor was former senator Phill Gramm from Texas. That is, until Gramm went on record as saying that We the People are a bunch of whiners and that the recession was all in our heads. To that point, McCain acknowledged his lack of economic expertise at every opportunity. Heck, he can't even remember how many houses he and his wife have, so how can he remember how to run a government, right?
As soon as he fired Gramm, all of a sudden he started calling himself an expert on economics. Unfortunately for him, there is this thing called the Internet where people can post YouTube videos that point out specifically where he said what. He might not remember, but we do.
