Join us in Denver or 149 other cities to raise money for ALS!

Hello all Coloradans!
I am sorry that this is so late notice of such an amazing event that we are having in Denver, this weekend! I just found out about a walk at City Park this weekend for ALS.
nbsp;
Walk to Defeat ALS is being put on in Denver September 12th 9am – 1pm by The ALS Association.
As their site says, “Walk because YOU can!” If you cannot walk, you can donate!
For those of you who do not know ALS is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or better known as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”. I heard about this walk through my friend who has a family member who was recently diagnosed with ALS. Here is what she has to say about this walk…
“Some of you know but some of you don't, but my Uncle Ray Davis has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease also called ALS. The kind he has is very fast moving and he will be going home within the next year. There is no treatment for Ray or anyone with ALS. But there is research going on to hopefully stop this fatal disease. So this is where you all come in (hopefully). I am getting a team together to walk this Saturday Sept. 12th in the www.walktodefeatals.org at City Park in Denver. Our team is named Ray's Revolution. So if you feel so inclined checkout the web site above or look here to find our team Ray's Revolution and donate to this cause to defeat ALS. If you would like to forward this on please do, the more people hear about it the better. If you cannot donate please encourage us in this endeavor.
Thank you for taking your time to check it out.
Misti!!”
I have joined her team and I would like to help raise money for her team and this amazing cause! The team above seems to only be working part of the time. If you cannot get the link to work above but would like to donate to our team it is still pretty simple. You can both email me and do a PayPal payment to me directly that I will then turn and put to the team, or you can follow these simple steps.
You can go to this website, Search for Teams or Team Members, and then search for our team “Ray’s Revolution”. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and you can then donate to the whole team or to Christina Hale.
If you are interested in walking yourself but cannot make the Denver walk, they do have a walk in Ft. Collins on September 20, 2009. This walk will be held at Colorado State University Oval. You can visit their site here to find more information on how to join this walk!
They also hold around 150 walks throughout the entire US so if you are interested in walking, but are not from Colorado then you can find a walk near you here, www.walktodefatals.org!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, as well as help with such an amazing cause! Count your blessings when it comes to your health and what you have. You never know what the future may hold for you or your loved ones.

Thank you!! :)
Hello, I just wanted to make sure that I took a point out of these crazy weeks of mine to say thank you to Rawnak and Wdzzz. I really appreciate your kind words. Anyone who knows me knows that I will always respect others opinions, but I will always stick to my beliefs as well! :)
I really think that knowing how to maturely, and rationally support what you believe in is very hard sometimes, but it is needed! When you are passionate about things sometimes you go back to arguing like you did in high school because you just don't get why everyone feels the way that you do. I never intend to insult or hurt anyones feelings, please let me know if I do! :)

I am going to make this quite
As for if people on Xomba like you; quite frankly I do not care who likes or dislikes you, that has nothing to do with me. You can continue to go around and say what you feel is right because this is America and you have the right to free speech, just like I have the right to believe that people should not suffer horrible awful deaths while I sit by and eat some lettuce, and twirl my thumbs. Just like you have a right to put others down for not living the way you think is best, I have the right to stand up to people like you, for people like my dear friend Misti's Uncle who is slowly watching every luxury in life slip away. Luxuries like being able to smile at his children, hug or hold his wife, feed or bathe himself. Things that most of us take for granted daily.
p.s. Thank you for making me feel that I was back in middle school by starting your "mature" "rational" argument by calling me names! It really made me think that I should really take what you said with high regards.
Miss Tina
Use your money and time wisely and compassionately
Please don’t be a drama queen. I’m not attacking anyone, but you are: you’re attacking the messenger (me) because you don’t like the message (that walks that support animal experimentation won’t lead to a cure). I'm quite sure you, your friends and your family have the best of intentions (I believe I stated that in my previous comment) and you just aren't aware of what you're getting involved in.
In response to Veghead's attack on my family, friends and myself
Since you are the one who knows all about how this testing is doing no good, and you are obviously so against it why don't you arrange a walk? Attacking me and my friends because we hope to one day not have to watch millions suffer is not getting you anywhere. All we are trying to do is help make this a better and healthier world to live in. You obviously are welcome to have whatever opinion that you want to have, and therefore attack us for being good people all you would like. I am just saying that I think that if you were to take your own advice and move for change, like we are, then maybe your word can be heard by more people and in turn actually change the way that things are done if you truly believe that nothing is okay with the way research is done to try to cure such a horrific disease!
I support many causes and post my articles on over 10 sites; you are the first to actually put me down for what I try to do to improve the lives of others. I strongly encourage you to take a much more pro-active look and approach on your opinions because attacking one person who walks to cure a disease out of hundreds of thousands only makes you look harsh, and just plain uncaring for humans who are trying to make a difference! I wish you the best of luck in changing the way testing is done. I do not research all the steps behind every diseases testing, I just know that watching people I love suffer is the worst feeling in the world, and I would like to help ease their pain!
I do not think animals deserve to suffer either, but like I said I don't have time to research every method they use to try to find a cure for every disease. That is why I am strongly encouraging you to take your own advice and start the walk you mentioned. Educate others of these tests you mention so that maybe change can happen!
Best wishes to you and yours! I truly hope you never experience what a horrific death this disease can bring to you or your loved ones!
Miss Tina
ALS and animal testing
I know you have good intentions, but to be brutally honest, If the search for a cure for ALS continues to be animal testing, as it is for most serious diseases, then good luck with that. Walking to get money to fund more animal testing is futile. Animal testing is not only inhumane, it's lousy science. If you really want a cure for this horrible disease, you and your friends should be walking to encourage scientists to develop and utilize non-animal modalities. Because of the retro way experiments are conducted in biomedical research, I don't expect the Jerry Lewis Telethon for the cure for MS and other neurological conditions to ever end either, unless consumes wake up.
