Xomba Anonymous – Help For Xomba Addicts

Xomba Anonymous, also know as XO, and styled with a logo similar to that on an OXO Cube, is an article written for Xomba addicts. It lists the tell-tale symptoms of Xomba addiction and suggests some full and partial cures. Please add your advice, any tips or details of your own personal Xomba addiction in the comments section below.

This article was inspired by emails and comments received following the publication of “Warning – Xomba Addictive” http://www.xomba.com/warning_xomba_addictive
for which AndAnotherThing2 thanks its contributors. We feel it incumbent upon us to mention that this piece is somewhat tongue in cheek and remind our readers that when we suggest “chopping of your hands” to resolve the problem of Xomba Addiction we do not mean it and it is, albeit in bad taste, a joke.

Signs you are addicted to Xomba include:

Spending hours writing articles (known as Xombytes) and researching useful links (for Xomblurbs).

Cancelling dates to write further articles

Not answering the telephone or doorbell so you can write more articles.

Not eating so you can write more articles

Not sleeping so you can write more articles

An obsessive need to get onto Page 1 of Xomba’s Users by Points list followed ny another obsessive need to rise up Page 1’s ranks.

Waking in the night with ideas.

Forgetting how to talk

Throwing your computer out of the window when it freezes mid-article.

Enticing other people to become filthy Xomba addicts!

If you are experiencing any of the above, chances are you are either developing a Xomba addiction or you are already hooked. Not to worry there are measures you can take to relieve these symptoms.

Methods of Cutting Down Your Xomba Useage

Try to cut the hours you write articles and research links by limiting the hours in any one day you allow yourself to pander to your Xomba addiction. For instance if you are writing for ten hours a day cut it down to eight hours a day. Reduce your hours slowly and aim to be limiting your hours to about three per day. TIP: If you have a relapse and this results in a Xomba Binge (a.k.a. an XB) this means you cut down too quickly, but you will be back to stage 1.

Get a life.

Have your partner, spouse, child or trusted friend tie your hands behind your back. To ensure you don not continue typing with a pen in your mouth also have them blindfold you.

Disconnect your electricity.

Cut off your hands,

Xombatology

"Writing down article ideas and formats while at work or class." God, I do this all the time... I see a sign or hear something on the radio or TV and think, "That would make a good xombyte!"

what about

when your kid's getting late for school (its 8am monday morn after all!) and u NEED to put in that last blurb or comment b4 serving Breakfast ~~~~~ My writings here My profile here My Xomba Blog

More symptoms!

Writing down article ideas and formats while at work or class. When you hear or see the word Breaking News, you get butterflies. Google trends is set to your home page. User Points matter. Every time you bring your mouse close to the Log Out button on Xomba you begin to shake violently.

A Mint, really?

I think the mint looks like this!

Multitasking

"Not eating so you can write more articles" One can eat while working at the computer, so as not to miss a single new xomblurb of table tennis scores or a new private message from a Nigerian woman who wants desperately to be your lover (and to also borrow $100,000.) It's good to be careful when eating and using the computer, however. Last week during a long night of xombifying I was hungry and went to whip up some Chateaubriand with bearnaise sauce. It was late at night and I fell asleep at the computer, and awoke to find my keyboard glued together with the sauce. I tried to melt the hardened goo off with an acetylene torch, but the results were less than satisfactory.
