Joss Whedon Week on Castle: Nathan Fillion Mentions Buffy While Dressed Like Malcolm Reynolds
posted October 22, 2009 - 6:31amJoss Whedon fans who watch ABC's Castle love the allusions to Whedon's work. Whether it's Nathan Fillion posing with gloves for a "two by two, hands of blue" Firefly moment or a mention of a death ray (Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog), each reference delights fans. For the next episode, which airs Monday night (10/26), just the preview has TWO references. One, Castle is trying out his "Halloween costume" - which happens to be dressing exactly like Captain Malcolm Reynolds, the character he played on Firefly. Beckett even asks if those are suspenders he's wearing. Two, they find a corpse in the cemetary, staked in the heart, and Castle says that Buffy (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a show Fillion had a reoccuring character in) must be visiting the Big Apple.

I noticed the costume for
I noticed the costume for the "space cowboy," but I missed the Buffy reference on Castle. I didn't know Nathan Fillion was on that show.
I am becoming a very big fan of Castle, even though in the beginning I wasn't really into it. Now, I think it's one of the best things on--or at least one of the most fun and entertaining. It's simple and not too overwhelming in terms of plot.
I'm passing up Mad Men and Californication for Castle.
