Just What Did Joe Biden Mean?

Just What Did Joe Biden Mean?

"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

This is extremly comforting to know. So, let me get this right, if Obama is elected president, not only are taxes going to be raised via socialism; but now we can expect the international community to test him right away. This generated crisis, Biden goes on to say, will come from one of 4 or 5 scenarios from where it might originate. Naming Russia and the Mid-East of possible origins of the crisis to come.

This statement scares me, and it should scare the hell out of every citizen of our country, and many parts of the world. Does he really know what he is talking about? Would it all still take place if McCain is elected? Just what are we supposed to make of this? He said "gird your loins", it's coming, like it or not, if Obama is elected.

I wonder what type of impact this international incident will have on economy and our national security. More defense spending, more families cwith loved ones in harms way. Are there hundreds of Islamic sleeper cells within the US that are poised to strike? Will ther be mass suicide bombings in nearly every country on the earth that doesn't covet Islam? Will Russia attack another Baltic neighbor? Will Isreal be sieged by Iran, Fattah, Hamas, and Hezbolla all at once? Will adirty bomb go off in one our cities? Who knows what to expect if Obama is elected. Right now, after hearing these comments from Biden, Ican't tink of anything good about the prospects of Obama becoming our next president. I can imagine that you leftists out there are going to say that it would eventually happen anyway, so it doesn't really matter. I can tell you this, I haven't heard Sarah Palin tell the citizens of the US that if her running mate is elected to "Gird Your Loins, it's about to get ugly. Our nation is so divided, how much uglier can it really get?

Myth, I'm with you on the "brain warfare" between Obama and...

McCain. I have tossed and turned all the info around so many times I don't even know who I support myself anymore. One thing about it, either one has their work cut out for 'em. All we can do is wait and see where the chips fall and how many stacks they build or take down with them!

When You're Right, You're Right; Strange Judgments People Make

McCain has been through war (I don't know if Obama has), and so has more-likely learned to help people cope with it. As said in The Inevitable Dossier, the powers behind one trend will always be overcome by the powers behind the next trend. I suppose we could label those 'trends' "war" and "peace," but 'war' and 'peace' are simply the vehicles with which people transport their brand of "love" ('war' working on the wide-ranging path, 'peace' only on a few selected lines in its midst). Obama--it seems--wants to negotiate peace before resigning the country to war. That sounds better than the 'fighting fire with fire'-attitude of a war-monger (though warmongers may not be 'good,' they still exist and will continue to exist). But the only war that matters to me is the one McCain's people and Obama's people are fighting within my mind; McCain is lashing out like a loser on his last leg, Obama ... i dunno, I'm waitin` for one of `em to lift up his sword, yell, "I Have the Powerrrrrrrrrrr!" and strike down Lord Skeletor with a flash of lightning! I'll be hunting for the He-Man/Lion-O entry on the ballot! ---Uncle MythMan & we Xombies Enlighten You on Money, Love, God etc. Turn Xombie & Help! & LinkBrander will help you 'feast on the Internet Brains'!

The PATRIOT ACT...

Anticrime and antiterrorist legislation enacted soon after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The law was approved overwhelmingly by both chambers of Congress, the Senate and the House of Representatives, and signed into law by President George W. Bush on October 26, 2001. You think I huff and puff because your points are baseless.. They are here. And people like you turn to the past for blame instead of looking to the future for our survival. You need to wake up. THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW..

If you don't like the answer, don't ask the question

I am done here since you are not interested in finding the answers to your questions. You can huff and puff all you want with self-righteous indignation, but you can't escape reality. Whatever happens in the next year may very well be related to the past eight. I don't care if you believe me or not. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?

As far as torture goes..

Bush, Cheney, nor any field commander never gave the order to toture prisoners. That was proven to be done at subordinate levels and found unacceptable by our military leaders. If you want to mention torture in this matter, you should mention beheadings, dragging soldiers through the streets, setting them on fire and hanging them. How dare you even mention torture in light of the atrocities committed against our troops in recent wars and wars of years gone by. John McCain can tell you about torture. The word Patriot shouldn't even come out of your mouth because obviously you know nothing about it.

Come on jdud..

How is Bush/Resonsible for 9/11, Afghanistan, torture at Guantanamo? The Patriot Act? Do you have something to hide? Iraq is the only thing you have listed in your overflowing list that even qualifies. And for the record I wasn't for the Iraq war, nor any war for that matter. The patriot act was implemented as a means to detect terror supports and sympathizers within our borders, do you have a problem with that. Afghanistan is the front line of the global war on terror. Had Clinton taken out Bin Laden, 9/11 may never had happened. Your points are invalid, just like The Dems are that Bush is responsible for where we are today. You, just like Obama, are using the Bush administration as stump speech fodder. Until you can come up with something more sustantial than that, please don't comment anymore on this subject. Please.

9/11, Iraq, Afghanistan, Patriot Act I&II, Torture, Guantanamo

I could add more, but the subject line has a text limit. I'm not saying that American citizens perpetrated any of this, but out inaction, particularly when the truth came out about Bush/Cheney misrepresenting the facts (to put it mildly) in violation of the Constitution, the duty of the House of Representatives was to investigate what happened. Those who protested the actions of the Bush Administration were dismissed as un-American by the War Party and its supporters (I'm guessing that is you, too). I can also throw in there Cheney's illegal, unconstitutional power grab without Congressional oversight and the fact that Bush would illegally and unconstitutionally make "signing statements" on bills presented to him by Congress in which he decided which laws he would follow and those he decided not to follow. Yes, Congress has the Constitutional authority to decide which parts of government get money and which do not, but consider which party had control over Congress from 2001-2007 and which party rolled over for Bush during those years when most of the damage to our country was done. (The Democrats controlled from 2007 to present and certainly rolled over, but, by then, most of the damage was already done.) The best thing to do is reread the Constitution in Article I particularly, then look at the actions of Bush and Cheney in doing whatever they felt like doing without that oversight. You should also go to the Lew Rockwell website and read the Ron Paul files. Dr. Paul is a Constitutionalist who knows more than the media about Congress' role in all of this and who also wrote a number of articles and books. His passion for the Constitution and rule of law was one of the reasons his own Republican Party locked him out of the campaign and denied him any air time in the conservative media. The Vietnam era...

was a very controversial period. The assination of Martin Luther King did very much drive a wedge between the races, which severely damaged the momentum that the civil rights movement had garnered. Currently, and this is just my opinion, I really don't think race relations are truly any better than they were then. In fact they maybe worse. The reason I say this is because I feel that the tension is hiding just beneath the surface; it's not discussed openly like it was in those days. The segregation exists to even greater degrees in many areas of our nation. A large portion of the The African- American race still feels like they are treated like second class citizens in many cities in this country. And to be honest, I think they are being viewed that way in many cities. The gap between the classes continues to increase and regardless of what we think there is a big split of races across the cllass barriers. It's very unfortunate, but true. And that is a very serious concern. My fear is that it when it does resurface, it will explode on the scene. Back in the late 60's early 70's it was always a topic of discussion, there was great debate and progress made. Much of the majority came to realize that this is a land of opportunity and it should be afforded to all that live here regardless of their race. That is the way it should be. But although much progress has been made since the MLK days, I dont' think that enough progress has been made and the fact that is not discussed hardly any these days is of great concern. I would say that is another issue all together, but it can never really be seperate from any of the other issues around election time. Also, the Iraq war carries just about as much distain as the Vietnam War across political party lines, there just aren't as many hippies to protest it these days. Hopefully this situation does turn out to be as mild as you say, I sure hope so.

And just what, in your opinion...

did we let happen last 8 years? Break it down for me if you will, exactly what has happened the last 8 years during the Bush administration that leads you to say that it has laid the groundwork for the international community to test the mettle or will of Barak Obama? I would like for someone to tie the issues together instead of just carrying the "Change Party Campain Line". From top to bottom, I hear everyday that all the blame for our countries challenges are based on what has happened the last eight years, but I have yet to see anyone address point by point what these reasons are other than to place blame. You know as well as I do that the president and vice president are only as productive as the senate and congress allow them to be, with the exception of veto power.

Divided

Vbm, I don't agree that the country is as divided as it's been in at least a half a century. You're about the same age as I am, so maybe you remember the Vietnam years--to me, that's as divided as the country has been, especially when you consider the riots and racial strife that was going on, the civil rights struggle, and the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. The situation today seems pretty mild by comparison, to me.
