Justice Sonia Sotomayor Nominated for Supreme Court

Federal Appeals court Judge Sonia Sotomayor will be officially nominated by President Barack Obama on Tuesday, 26 May, 2009 to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice David Souter. Sotomayor has been a federal judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit since 1998. She is 54 years old. Read more on this here.

President Obama will nominate Judge Sonia Sotomayor If confirmed by the Democratic-controlled Senate, Judge Sotomayor, 54, would replace Justice David H.
