Kangana Ranaut, born on 23 March 1987 in Bhambla Village [ Mandi ] in Himachal Pradesh was raised and completed most of her studies in Shimla. She studied Science that intrested her in becoming a Doctor at one point. In a passion of acting Kangna travelled to Delhi starting her acting career in theatres shows.

Ranaut's father is a businessman and her mother is a school teacher who had no qualms with their daughter going towards her destiny. Kangna while prusuing her acting career in theatre shows aspired to beoming a movie actress that made her move to Mumbai to try her luck in movies.

In 2005,Bollywood Film-maker Anurag Basu spotted her having coffee in a cafe in Bombay, and signed her up for Mahesh Bhatt's 'Gangster' which ultimately became her debut film that was both critically and commercially successful. Her success with her well appreciated role in 'Gangster' was followed by another acclaimed performance in Woh Lamhe (2006).

Kangana later starred in the hit film 'Life In A Metro' as a confused girl who is looking for a real love and in 'Shakalaka Boom Boom' 'as an aspiring singer. Kangana was announced as heroine in deceased cinematographer / director Jeeva's forthcoming Tamil venture, Dhaam Dhoom in 2007 which is expected to release late 2008.

Besides her tamil debut 'Dhaam Dhoom', Kangana can also be seen in Raaz 2 opposite Emraan Hasmi and has a current offer to star in an US based film entitled "Between the Night and the Moon"(2009) by Italian Director Gilda Pianelli. Kangana is the most brilliant and sensitive actor to enter Indian film industry at such a young age & her honesty in acting far surpassing even seasoned actors.
