Kara Kennedy Allen, 49, is the only daughter of the late senator Ted Kennedy. In 2002 she was diagnosed with an inoperable lung cancer at age 42.
Her father went out of his way to research the disease and found a surgeon who said he could remove the tumor. After the operation and chemotherapy Kara is still alive with the disease in remission. She owes it all to a the persistency of her father.
