Katherine Harris Makes Controversial Comments On Religion

Today Florida Republicans will decide who will be their candidate for the US Senate. Leading the pack is the infamous Katherine Harris. Mainly known for role as Florida's secretary of state during the 2000 presidential election, Katherine Harris is a lightning rod. Over the weekend Harris made comments to the Florida Baptist Witness stating her opinions on religion and government.

Harris stated that she felt the seperation of church and state was a lie and that the founding fathers had never invisioned a secular goverment. She also said that the seperation of church and state is "wrong because God is the one who chooses our rulers." She also feels that non-Christian officials will "legilate sin".

The Republican party, however, is not supporting her candidacy for US Senate. They feel that she is a too controversial candidate to defeat a relatively popular incumbent (Bill Nelson). According to the latest Quinnipiac poll Bill Nelson now leads Katherine Harris 61 percent to 24 percent.

Doesn't know the law

Apparently she knows little of US laws or constitution. If I am correct I think the First Amendment still applies today, Freedom of religion. Meaning we all have the right to choose what we believe and that government should not be sticking it's nose in, but they do all the time. In all facets of relgious beliefs. It is the government flouting the laws. Not the church. For all those special interest groups, who want to foist their relgious values on all the rest of us. She sounds like she just wants power.

Hello everyone, stop and set awhile.

To me, it's quite clear.

To me, it's quite clear. Politics means power, and what better way to be seen and heard...and to impose one's "one light, one way, one truth" beliefs on all others.

I don't quite know what to

I don't quite know what to say to that news except why do all the nuts get into politics? I've known so many Born Again Christians, but politicians just take the cake for extremism and irrationality.

Kathy

Kathy has a snowballs chance in hell of winning in Florida. Especially when Jeb won't take her calls. She is an idiot along the lines of Rhonda Storms. I am voting for Storms just to get her out of Hillsborough - let the rest of the state worry about her for awhile.

Amen to that.

Amen to that.
