Keeping your marriage relationship alive takes lots of work. When starting out in marriage it’s always best to start out your new life going with your best foot forward. These principles I’m about to share can be used for those already married too.
Marriage can be one of the most difficult kinds of relationships. You will benefit by following these simple principles to keep your marriage alive.
- Premarital counseling – Being involved in premarital counseling would be an excellent idea to start your new life together. The counselor can give you ideas of how to work through conflict when it arises. Sometime they will also do personality tests with couples as well. This is a big help in starting out.
- Become friends – This should be the first step before you begin you life together. Couples that are friends first have a better chance at making it and so they have a better chance of keeping their marriage relationship alive.
- No name calling or insults – name calling and insulst can be one of the things that wreck a marriage relationships. It is not only immature but causes hurt that may lead to resentment. This may lead to anger that is withheld which causes destruction in relationships.
- Depend on each other – Learning to trust one another takes some time. In fact, it may take many seasons. Trust is built and doesn’t come overnight. In years it is strengthened and when it becomes strong it serves a good purpose when times are tough.
- Resolve conflict quickly- This is a crucial point in marriage. Learn to resolve your conflict, disagreements or whatever quickly. Don’t let them fester or they will become magnified. Never go to bed mad at each other ever! This is one of the best principles for keeping your marriage relationship alive.
