Kidney Beans in Wine

Kidney Beans in Wine

My sister, Nancy, lives in Milwaukee and often sends recipes for me to
try. I have another sister, Daphne, who lives in Orlando. She is a wonderful cook;
this is a recipe from her.

"Here is a recipe (our) Mother got from a newspaper years ago which I
liked a lot. It is simple and for bean lovers only I guess. Nancy
would like it I know.

Kidney Beans in Wine

All you need is: 2 cans of kidney beans, thinly sliced onion,
approximately 3/4 C of dry red wine, and salt pork or 4 or 5
slices of bacon.

Do not drain kidney beans. Combine ingredients in a baking dish.
Lay bacon strips across across top. Bake at 350 until liquid is
reduced and bacon browned, about 60 to 70 minutes. After baking
I add a few slices of thinly sliced Swiss cheese, and return
to oven briefly to melt.

The aroma while baking is wonderful."
