Kidney Stones Increase When Temperature Rises

Did you know that when the temperature rises, so does your chance for having kidney stones? If there is a season for kidney stones, summer is it. The theory behind the increased kidney stones instances is due to the body fluid loss through sweating when the temperature rises. The lowered amount of body fluids set the stage for kidney stone formation.
Your chances for developing kidney stones also increase if you are over weight, get urinary track infections often or if you have a relative that had kidney stones.
Not all kidney stones are equal, there are different types of kidney stones. If you are the unfortunate bearer of kidney stones, your physician will run tests to determine what type of kidney stones you have and prescribe treatment, medication and/or diet accordingly.
To lessen your overall risk of developing kidney stones, especially when the temperature rises, drink plenty of water, limit your salt intake and eat less red meat.
