The third in a series of articles exploring the lives and reigns of the Kings and Queens of England. This part looks at the reign of Edward the Confessor, the penultimate Saxon king, stripping away his reputation as a saintly, but ineffectual, king and examining the real historical figure. It also delves into the reasons why Edward's death in 1066 led to foreign invasions and conquest.
