posted March 1, 2009 - 9:13pmKyle Busch has won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in his hometown of Las Vegas. Busch qualified in the first position but had to change the engine in his Toyota, forcing him to start the race at the rear of the field. This makes him the first driver to win the Las Vegas race from the pole and the first to race his way to a win from a last place starting position.
Clint Bowyer,Jeff Burton, David Reutiman, and Bobby Labonte rounded out the top five finishers. There were 14 caution flags ,the most ever at a Las Vegas NASCAR race.
The Vegas race was plagued by blown tires and engine failures. Matt Kenseth who was trying to set a record by winning the first 3 Sprint Cup races of the season had an engine failure on lap 7. Kenseth's teammate David Ragan lost his engine on lap 74. A third Rousch teammate,Carl Edwards, lost his Ford engine on the last lap of the race. The Chevy of Mark Martin blew up on lap 122.
