Ladies and Gentlemen Start Your Engines
posted May 5, 2007 - 4:30pmA young lady is speeding around an undulating tree-lined mountian road when she is pulled over by a state trooper. The camera peers inside the driver's-side window as she adjusts her decolletage and asks "Is there a problem officer?"
The camera dollys back as the state trooper's helmet is
removed and long golden-in-the-sunlight hair streams down.
This is a television commercial by Danica Patrick's sponsor in the Indy Racing League, HONDA.
After the little cartoon hearts finished cascading-down around me my thoughts turned to the IndyCar Series race at Kansas Speedway where the first open-wheel race in the United States with not one but three women in the starting field.
Dan Wheldon won the race on the 1.5 mile tri-oval, finishing the 200 laps at 188.16 miles-per-hour.
Danica Patrick finished 7th, in another Dallara-Honda.
Sarah Fischer was 12th, completing 196 laps.
Milka Duno made her IndyCar debut a success, finishing in 14th position. the Venezuelan had qualified at the back of the field with a 208.25 MPH effort! Tony Kanaan had turned a 214.11 mile lap so these IndyCars havn't reached their top speed potential yet.
