Lake Mineral Wells State Park
posted May 15, 2009 - 10:33amI have visited Mineral Wells State Park about 20 times in my life. There is an abundance of scenery, wildlife, and activities to do while staying there.
Some activities including fishing, hiking, climbing, and swimming. There is a public dock in the state park along with a baitshop. The shop sells bait, swim gear, food and drinks. You can catch catfish and crappie from the dock fairly easy. I have also seen people catch carp. There are several hiking trails for you to hike on foot or on horseback. If you chose to hike on foot there are some nice caverns with nice scenery. I have not participated in the climbing but I hear the climbing area is nice. There is an area of the lake that is secluded so that you can swim away from people fishing.
For camping they have several nice options. You can use a tent with no electricity/water. Or you can get a cabin with electricity and water. The cabins are rugged, non insulated but roomy.
I have always enjoyed my stay at Mineral Wells.
