Language-Evolution and the Buddha's Expedient Means
Language-Evolution and the Buddha's Expedient Means
As you might know, I've been studying/practicing Buddhism (I understand the non-Reasoning factor of 'faith,' but I am by nature a truth-seeker).
The main text of Nichiren Buddhism (the Community of Buddha of the Latter-Day Bodhisattvas) is The Lotus Sutra—most-famous for its teaching of "the simultaneity of cause and effect" (i.e. with every action, a reaction is registered in the cosmos).
But the teaching I've been thinking-over–a teaching chanted by the group that offers the text at the site below–is the teaching of Expedient Means—basically, people will learn what is taught in the best way for them.
Sort of a testament to this teaching, the commonly, rapidly chanted "Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo" (after chanted untold-bajillions of times) evolves into 'Namyo Rendekonamyo Rendeko.'
