Lasik eye surgery
posted September 13, 2008 - 2:14amI had corrective lasik eye surgery done in February and it was one of the best things that I could have ever done for myself. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner when I had the cash a few years ago. I was able to finance the surgery through carecredit.com which made the whole process extremely easy. My credit wasn't that great, so I was a little surprised when I was approved for the nearly $5,000 ($2,500 per eye) that the surgery cost. Once I was approved for financing I just knew that I had to get it done. I had worn glasses since the third grade and I was never able to wear contact lenses. I hated the fact that I would have to wear goggles to play basketball in gym and I wasn't able to see the alarm clock across the room. It also gave me self esteem issues. I knew that there were women who wouldn't give me the time of day just because I wore glasses. I had horrible astigmatism and had to wear bifocals for much of my younger years. I was a little skeptical when I went in for the lasik vision surgery, but I had done my research and found a doctor with a really good reputation and was confident that everything would be alright. So I went to the Price Vision Group surgery center in Indianapolis and Dr. Francis Price performed the procedure in less then a half an hour. Your vision maybe a little hazy for about two days after the surgery, but the recovery really wasn't bad at all. You'll have to put drops in your eyes repeatedly for a few weeks, but it is well worth it. After spending most of my youth with horrible vision due to astigmatism after the surgery I now have 20/15 vision (better then 20/20). The first time I drove my car without glasses I felt like I was breaking the law! Obviously having someone shoot lasers at your eyes can be a little intimidating that's why I suggest you do lots of research and find a doctor you can trust with a great reputation. I remember one reason I put it off was because I was afraid I would blink or move and something would go terribly wrong. Don't worry about that because they will pry open your eyelids so that doesn't happen. You won't be able to blink even if you want to. It's worth the extra money to see a doctor who is well respected in his field. You only get one set of eyes.
