Last Stand For Outgunned McCain

Last Stand For Outgunned McCain

With only seven days to go, it seems almost clear that Obama has won it already. He raised more than $603m while McCain scraped together just over $380m.

Obama's ads are everywhere and are accessable to the less-well off members of society - such as in between sports events on TV. I'm not maiking any kind of judgement call on people who watch sport on TV, just saying that if you can't afford to go to the event, you watch it on the box.

Yet maybe it's not so clear-cut as to who has the more obvious campaigning; - many people have still not registered and some that have registered are being denied due to computer errors in a new system. There's also the fact that McCain is a celebrated war hero and we all know how America loves them war heroes.

I want to join in this debate....

....but I think I have a stalker ^

No one is saying you are not entitled to your opinion

However, the fact remains that the finished product that the general public sees from the mainstream media slants middle-right. If you don't mind, I would like to see links to those other articles that say that the media is liberal because I've read several (the Chomsky-Herman study is just one) that says otherwise. Oh come on!

You can tell by Katy Couric's body language, and tone of voice that she didn't like Sarah Palin. And I have read other articles/surveys that say differently, the media is liberal. But I have seen pro McCain, and Obama expose reports out there on Fox News. I figured you already voted. Anyway when I was taking surveys, it was indeed slanted. I'm human, I'm sure the tone of my voice gave me away while polling even if I tried for professionalism, and subjectivity. Also, it seemed who ever was paying for the poll, liked to pick a certain zip code, or liked calling at a certain time of day. I worked for a third party, contracted by both Rep, and Democrats, ages ago, try Clinton era. We are not robots, both reporters, and pollsters alike are biased, even if they do indeed strive for subjectivity.

The Same Liberal Media I just proved doesn't exist?

Keep using those excuses, lmorovan. That's all you McCain supporters have left. JOIN XOMBA IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO ADD!

Elections

Thank God, the President is elected by the Electoral College, not by ill informed, manipulated by the neo lib media and socialist agendas. Common sense and reason will prevail. To read my posts and articles click here: http://www.xomba.com/xombyte/lmorovan

The Myth of the Liberal Media

I wrote an article in the past month addressing the fact that the media is NOT liberal, based on a documentary put together by the Media Education Foundation called Myth of the Liberal Media: The Propaganda Model of News. In it, the filmmakers rebut and debunk the popular notion--most often used by conservatives to explain conservative failures--that the media is "liberal". The idea that many or most news reporters being registered as Democrats does not correlate to the finished product put out to the general population because a street reporter's ideology does not trump what the editorial board of a newspaper or the board of directors of a major news corporations have to say. Indeed, most if not all of those boards slant middle-right. To say that the media is liberal because of the party affiliation of reporters is to say that the workers on the factory floor at GM get to decide which cars to make or how the corporate budget is spent. Back to the polls, I don't doubt that they are slanted. We don't get to see the specific wording on the questions nor do we get to see the exact demographics polled. Therefore, any spin in either direction is possible and even permissible. I don't particularly follow any specific poll, but I will take an average of what is out there. Even the average numbers are pro-Obama. The Washington Post put out a poll, which I used for a Xombyte yesterday, that shows Obama winning the Electoral College 349-189. Right now, McCain cannot win on the issues, so he is putting the remainder of his campaign finances behind the most negative ads we've seen to date. Politicians who believe they are ahead in the polls or who stand a good chance of winning do not adhere to a "scorched earth" policy, such as what McCain has been running in the past month. I've already voted for Obama, as have many people who vote absentee. I acknowledge that it's not the vote that counts but the person counting the votes, which is why I hope and pray that those districts using non-paper trail electronic voting machines are paying attention. Those machines are not tamper-proof and the owners of those companies making electronic voting machines gave heavily to the Republicans this election cycle. JOIN XOMBA IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO ADD!

Nobody asked me!

No poll takers asked me my opinion. Polls are slanted. I used to be a poll taker, so I know. The news media is slanted. Most reporters are Democrat. Anyway, when a poll taker calls I have to tell them that I once did their job and that automatically disqualifies me for their poll, but not from actually voting. Believe me another Dewey!

Dewey didn't have an unqualified running mate, though

While, yes, Dewey was projected to win and didn't, he didn't have many of the handicaps with which McCain now finds himself encumbered. Age, medical conditions (including cancer and 6/10 markers for Alzheimer's), a painfully unqualified running mate, and a country that is tired of eight years of Republican bungling. Truman had the benefit of being connected to the ending of World War II, while McCain has been firmly affixed to the ongoing failures in Afghanistan and Iraq, the latter of which he says he doesn't care if we are there for another 100 years. Remember Dewey?

I'm not old enough to personally remember Dewey, but if you recall your American History, instead of President Harry Truman, the media had predicted President Dewey. They were so sure they had already printed the headlines to read, "Dewey Wins." Even Truman believed the press, and went to bed early. When he awoke he realized he had won! The papers ran to gather up all the ones that had been distributed, and printed up a new batch that read, Truman wins! If you can find a "Dewey Wins" paper it is a real collectors item. Maybe instead of Dewey Wins it will be Obama Wins, and will have more collectors items. Anyway see my profile for articles I hope that will help McCain win!
