Latest on Fort Hood Shooting (UPDATED)
posted November 5, 2009 - 6:46pmUPDATE: Major Malik Nadal Hasan, the suspected gunman responsible for the shooting at Fort Hood today, is alive. He is currently wounded and in custody.
As of 5:30 pm, CST, 12 are dead after a soldier opened fire at Fort Hood. The primary shooter was killed by police who responded to the shooting. At least 31 others have been injured, 2 of whom are said to be in "very serious condition." Also, the police currently have 2 other soldiers in custody. The extent of their involvement has not been released. Little is known about the main gunman, Major Malik Nadal Hasan. MSNBC stated he had complained several times about being sent off to war. He focused his attack on the Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers are screened before being deployed. The full reason for the attack is currently unknown, including why he would choose to kill men and women about to be deployed. Considering he was angry about deployment, he should have identified with the soldiers he killed.
