The title of a recently released ABC News article is "Top Dems: Obama WON'T get health care reform in 2009" because of all the politics and jostling.

Adding insult to injury, the sub-title is: "Senior Congressional Democrats (e.g. Reid, Pelosi, Schumer, etc.) Now Say Reform Before End of Year HIGHLY UNLIKELY". This is "highly" negative.

The first sentence is: "Senior Congressional Democrats told ABC News today it is HIGHLY unlikely that a health care bill will be COMPLETED this year, just a week after President Barack Obama declared (that) he was "ABSOLUTELY confident" (that) he'll be ready to sign one by then (let's assume "then" is December 31, 2009, the last day of the calendar year)". Either way, health care is turning into A MAJOR FLOP with a lot of rhetoric, BUT ONLY PARTISAN POLITICS TO SHOW FOR ALL THAT TALK.

According to a "senior Democratic leadership aide", "Getting this done by the end of the year IS A NO-GO". A simple statement or exasperation?

Back on October 27 (which seems like years ago now), the president said: "I AM CONFIDENT that we are going to get health care done by the end of this year and Nancy Pelosi IS JUST AS CONFIDENT". Well, unfortunately, this has now turned into overconfidence.

According to Brendan Daly, a spokesman for Speaker Pelosi, "WE ARE GOING TO GET OUR PART DONE" and the implication, of course, is: WILL THE SENATE GET THEIR PART DONE? The blame games have begun.

When ABC's Jonathan Karl asked Reid, "Will you pass health care reform this year?", "Reid POINTEDLY DID NOT ANSWER "yes", the latest sign of a sinking ship/a plan gone awry.

Reid tries to cover up by saying that "We are not going to be bound by any timetables. We are going to do this AS QUICKLY AS WE CAN". This has already taken too long. "They want us to do this the right way, NOT THE FAST WAY", but this has taken way too long.

Jim Manley, a spokesman for Sen. Reid, tries to defend his boss: "Our goals remain unchanged. WE WANT TO get health insurance reform done this year and we have UNPRECEDENTED MOMENTUM to do this". "unprecedented momentum?" This guy probably hasn't been paying attention to the news lately because all recent indicators strongly suggest that quite the opposite is true.
