Overall Position - Chart Says it All

I see your point, Idlewild. Its not to say that silver and bronze do not count. I am only saying that for overall ranking position, gold medals are counted, which is why China is being shown on no.1 position and US on no.2 in the charts. This i meant when i said "I am counting Gold Medal". I hope you get me, Idlewild. (Disclaimer: I am a resident of neither country (US/China), so i have no vested interest over seeing one ahead of the other. Just stating facts) :-)

Huh?

"I am counting only Gold Medals, which decides the overall ranking." Huh? That makes no sense... "overall" implies complete, or total. If gold is the only medal that counts, why would the Olympics bother awarding silver and bronze? Maybe you could tell all the silver and bronze winners at Beijing that their medals don't count in the rankings, LOL.

Counting Gold

Idlewild, You are right. US totals 7 medals more than China. But those are total medals. I am counting only Gold Medals, which decides the overall ranking.
