Lawrence Tynes kicked the New York Giants into the Super Bowl Sunday night in Green Bay. His 36-yard field goal in overtime was redemption for Tynes, who had missed two potential game-winning field goals earlier in the game. One of those misses came with just a few seconds left in regulation time.

Here are some facts about Lawrence Tynes, #9:

* is in his first season with the Giants, and his fourth in the NFL. He played two seasons with Kansas City

* also played pro football with the Canadian Football League and the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe

* was born in Greenock, Scotland, June 3, 1978

* attended Troy University in Alabama, and was undrafted

* successfully made 23 of 27 field goals attempts in the 2007-2008 season

* the Scottish-born Tynes became the first player to score in an NFL game at Wembley Stadium in London, when he kicked a field goal in October 2007 in a Giants game against the Miami Dolphins
