One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project: The XO laptops come with a 7.5 inch TFT screen, Linux operating system for under $400
One Laptop per child (OLPC) project was the brainstorm of professor Nicholas Negroponte from MIT.
Through the buy-2-get-1 donation program, you can buy a $400 laptop computer and one for a child in a developing country.
The OLPC is a non-profit association designed to develop low-cost laptop computers, this will greatly benefit the schools.
Orders are pouring in from Nigeria, Peru, Libya in thousands for the XO laptops.
The XO laptops come with a 7.5 inch TFT screen, Linux operating system, long range Wi-Fi and they consume only two watts of power. Quanta Computers is manufacturing the laptops, its one of the world's largest laptop manufacturing firm.
One laptop per child program works on the "Give one, Get one" principle that's boosting the sale.
This little green laptops would soon find its way into schools of Uruguay which has purchased 1,00,000 of these laptops.
