Learning PSP ( Paint Shop Pro )
posted August 26, 2009 - 3:00pmHave you found yourself wanting to learn how to use Paint Shop Pro? Paint Shop Pro better know online as PSP, can be a complicated program to learn to use. If you know where to look online, or even how to use Google, you can find more than a few tutorials that will guide you through the learning process.
As I learned more about PSP, I found that although there are a lot of tutorials teaching PSP, there are some things that most tutorials do not teach. Most things that you will learn in PSP you will learn from trial and error. The version of PSP that you use doesn't really matter. Find one that doesn't seem to daunting. Start with that, you will probably find that once you begin you will want to stick to the version you started with.
I began learning using PSP 8. I have switched to version 9 now. I will not switch to a newer version because I have become comfortable with 9. One of the things that I learned in PSP that I stumbled upon on accident was how to take a whole image seperate it into smaller parts and then put those smaller pieces into the coding for my website and make it appear as one whole image. With each smaller image being a link to a different website.
There are websites out there that offer classes to help you along the way in your journey to learning PSP. Just enter free PSP classes into your favorite search engine and a whole list will come up. One of my favorite websites to learn from was http://www.webtechu.com/ . I took most of their PSP classes as well as their HTML courses. As you begin working with PSP you will collect a lot of tubes, fonts, filters, frames, you name it it. My best suggestion for you is to NOT put all of those things into your version of PSP. Make new folders for them and just point PSP to those folders.
Putting to many items into PSP will cause it to slow way down. It has even been known to cause PSP to crash. So again, make new folders and point PSP to the folders.
Good luck in your adventure to PSP. Happy creating!

I have tried several paint/graphic editor type programs and I always go back to my very old copy of Paint Shop Pro. Great article! Thanks!
