My Adsense Report - Unlocking The Secrets Of Adsense - Week 1

My Adsense Report - Unlocking The Secrets Of Adsense - Week 1

“Adsense” is a very big word. And, we all know the more we become familiar with its intricate workings, the ideal end-result would be to generate more traffic and, thus, make more money. There are multitudes of good and bad articles about “how to succeed with Adsense.” But, as-to-date, there is no Adsense-bible, or textbook.

I, for one, had become lost in a sea of Adsense. The more I read, the more confused I have become. Hey, I'm no rocket scientist, and I figure most others are not either. (It took me three years to learn file-management (YEA! 3 years). I will always believe “file management” should be called “folder management!”

I've been writing exclusively for Xomba for almost two years., and I decided a few weeks ago to whine-online about my dismal Adsense earnings. In almost two years I had amassed a fortune of a little over $50.

http://xomba.com/almost_2_yrs_xomba_total_adsense_revenue_52_83_what_am_doing_wrong

Over the next few months I have decided to post a regular Xomba column (in the form of Xombytes) titled “Weekly Adsense Report.” I read a lot about Adsense almost every day. Then I'll try to take the information and tweek Adsense. Then I'll check my results. Some will work and some will not. At, the end of each week's experiments I will give my readers a report about what produced successes and what proved failures.

I will try to give clear and concise information every week, and, encourage readers to leave comments and suggestions. In the comments-section we will be present in a virtual classroom setting. So, ask lots of questions! And, remember there is no such thing as a stupid question!!

I will link to articles and sites, which I personally used for these experiments, and publish the result achieved.

So, let's have some fun while learning how to make money with adwords (keywords), or to use another name, google adwords. And regardless of what name you decide to call the words, adwords keyword, or just words, just remember the goal is not the words, the goal is milking google cash from the words.

And, who, knows, it's possible when we complete our discussions, and experiments, we might realize the first hands-on Adsense Textbook. (the first Xombazine!)

How to Really Find High Value Keywords For Free
http://www.xomba.com/how_really_find_high_value_keywords_free

1. The Keyword Tool

The article “How to Really Find High Value Keywords For Free” gave me my first hands-on understanding, to how to set-up and operate the Google Adsense Keyword Tool. For me, it was a big hurdle to have overcome. I was able to do things with the Keyword tool I had never been able to do, and, the article gives a clear-understanding of what I'm seeing, to a reasonable extent. It gives a step-by-step explanation of how to set-up.

Additionally, ease and simplicity of selecting the right form of your chosen keyword raises revenue. I found this type of information in the article called "Using the Google Keyword Tool to Maximize Your Ad Click Revenue."

2. Inserting Keywords into my article & Keyword Density

The article “How to Make Sure they Read What you Write,” clearly explains the process of accomplishing the inserting-process using keywords. In the article it is recommended to not overuse any single keyword because search engines, like Google, will view an overuse of a word as possible spam and will not pickup on your article.

Density, meaning what is the optimum times to use one keyword in your paper. You may be using several keywords, but, the use of the word “optimum” is referring to “each keyword,” or, at least that is how I interpreted it.

This article mentions inserting each word three (3) times, or, an “alternative optimum” of 3-5%. The author states he has not been able to determine which works best.

I, in my knowledge gained from this week's readings preformed the following simple experiment:

Simple Keyword Insert

Up to initiating my experiment none of my over seven page-listings of Xombytes were ever prepared using keywords, and my Google Adsense total showed such, standing at, after almost two years, at a bit more than $53.00.

So, I picked out three articles to insert only one keyword. I selected a keyword or phrase that had a click-pay of over $1.00.

The first article of mine to get the keyword adjustment was:

Somalia: Pirates? Europeans illegally fish & dump toxic nuclear wastes in their waters
http://xomba.com/somalia_pirates_europeans_illegally_fish_dump_toxic_wastes_their_waters

When I initiated the insert this article was already moving up the charts in the Best Xombytes of The Past 7 days, but, it had generated no money. Overall, meaning the total highest-garnished single one-day amount acquired was $3.71 (once), with an overall average day of .10 per day.

After tweeking my article with a keyword inserted once, not three times, this article saw a one-day collection of $6.29, and, although there are still days it pulls ZERO, overall its gain has certainly increased.
My next article to get the keyword-tweek, and this time using more than one keyword or phase and inserting each, once, not three times:

America's 50 State License Plates: Beautiful & Colorful (with mottos and pictures)
http://xomba.com/america_s_50_state_license_plates_beautiful_colorful_with_mottos_and_pictures

And, always keep-in-mind inserting a word(s) and/or phase(s) will not give you instant-gratification. I have noticed it takes a few days for the revenue to begin generating.

The 50-State License Plate article posted last Saturday generated ZERO in revenue, until I did the keyword-tweek to it last Tuesday. Tuesday, Wednesday, and most of Thursday generated ZERO.

Then Thursday night it produced .25. And by 9am Friday morning (Adsense resets its daily clock at midnight) it was standing at $0.91, and through today it has continued to generate revenue, currently standing at $2.09, with additional revenue adding a few cents here and there.

The third article used for this week's experiment was posted early yesterday morning:

Beach Boys. California Girls. In the warm California Sun!
http://xomba.com/beach_boys_california_girls_warm_california_sun

It's getting page impressions, but, as, yet, no click-throughs. And, taking into consideration my perspective about it taking several days before seeing the first real generation of revenue, I will have to wait and see if this simple keyword experiment proves itself to be a pathway to Adsense revenue.

Next week I will give everyone an update on this keyword experiment, especially what the results were for the third article, and, this very article. Next week I want to look at real numbers per article, and taking these same three articles and re-tweeking them to the prescribed three-times-per-word insert and results.

I have been confused and at the same time overwhelmed by all the do-this and do-that, and insert-this, and don't-do that,, etc., that I had all but abandoned any thought of achieving much, as, I'm sure, there are others who feel the same as me.

One last thing, Bookmarking: The jury, for me, is still out to an extent. I'm have concurred with many of my buddies who have written much and collected at least several $100 checks from Adsense. None of them bookmark. It is time consuming and, for me, fruitless. Exposing your work to the world, to me, is fast, and a lot less work than bookmarking. I do not like bookmarking - my opinion.

A Xomba Blog entry from our Administration posted this past week should be read by everyone. Its very clear, very well explained, and is fast and easy to do. Here is a link to the piece:

Adsense account

Adsense expert: I just joined Adsense and Xomba, I enter my Adsense number and save it on Xomba but it is not showing in my Adsense Account Access. How long does it take to show Xomba on my Adsense Account Access? Other sites I also use Adsense show up right away.

Joseph, Thanks for this

Joseph, Thanks for this personalized insight into the wild world of adsense--it can be quite a rollercoaster. I think you're on the right track though--it's all about testing what works. I set up a blog a while back about adsense at this address: http://adsensemoneysuccess.com . You may be beyond all the advice I have on that site, or you may find it useful. I made the changes and got the adverts I wanted. Had a brainwave of my own too and suggested that prices for telecscopes vary depending on where you buy them. I'll update if and when I get results... XOMBIES! Listen UP! Nick has spoken & I'm excited for the future

Let's get everyone over here for a moment. There are many activities going on here in Xombaland, mud, writing, folks with bullhorns, yes, the loud speakers too, pieces being made, pieces being tossed, all types of exciting events. It's always great to see all this activity. We have finally reached the gateway of a bold and adventurous new frontier. We need our whole group to advance and explore together, as, one mighty force. But, before we depart the Xomba we have always known, we must lay the groundwork for the NEW Xomba. Nick has spoken, and now it is time to prepare! I am excited!

One Last Thing

Over the next two weeks we're going to be building some testimonial pages and how to help writers pages on the new site. I'd be happy if you guys helped us. That way all these articles will be in our official help section. How does that sound? Use the contact email and shoot us a message and I'll be in touch with you.

Here's The Deal

I'm going to make 4 points. 1. Jeremy makes the final decision about content on Xomba. I trust his decision and always stand behind him. There is no appeals process involving myself. 2. With all fairness your article mentions Xomba 25 times (including Urls). The article is still awesome and no one is arguing about that. 3. We've had this rule for probably a year. We've enforced it that whole time. The rule was put into place because Jeremy, myself and members from the community felt it necessary to promote writing not about Xomba. This was because when someone wrote about Xomba no matter how good it was it always got the most votes. Everyone loves Xomba. 4. Quit arguing. Why? Because in a month the block won't even exist anymore. Highest rated articles will be promoted to the front page, but that's it. You'll have to go to the individual categories to see the top rated content. Or you can see your friends top rated articles. The highest rated block as you see it now will be gone. So everyone chill and take a deep breath. Save your strength for when the new site comes and we all argue about that.

Well, I don't think I'm ok with it

because I work with other folks, not tied to Xomba concerning traffic, web coding and issues. If I was to be ok with it I would be spitting on the very folks who provided me my education at Portland State University, I would be selling out to people I teach basic computing to via a telephone, some, as far away as Northern Canada, and Las Vegas Nevada. I wrote Nick this afternoon. Nick is going to address this issue in the next blog. I promised Nick and Jeremy I would remain loyal to Xomba, and my word is my bond. But, that's not to say I won't be looking for new horizons. You, see, once those of us who are participating in dissecting the mechanics of Adsense and learn the secrets to the Adsense treasures, we can go anywhere and write. I'm sorry that this event took place today, as, I had become very comfortable in writing exclusively for Xomba. I always had prided myself in telling others about that. This is the last time under this article I am going to comment on the removal of articles off the board. This article deals with Adsense Mechanics and further comments need to be directed at the topic. This article in no way deals with Xomba Mechanics, or Xomba Administrative issues, or anything exclusively related to Xomba!! To all the kind people, jdub, included, thank you for your support and comments, and being my friends. I remain a Xomba loyalist, and we'll wait to hear from Nick! ____________ "It does matter what you believe, but, what you believe does not matter if you do not act upon your beliefs." You see working as a team presents better solutions

Prism -- excellent points and I like your last line " "Invite your friends to bring their telescopes for a star party and the enjoyment you'll receive will top the list as the best of your backyard projects." I wish I was fully concentrated in this effort this evening, but, well, you, know, there's a bigger problem bubbling on the back burner, which needs some attention. I'll get back to our classroom here in the morning, or, maybe sooner... :-) "It does matter what you believe, but, what you believe does not matter if you do not act upon your beliefs." Hey Joseph, I'm pissed off

Hey Joseph, I'm pissed off too - my article got moved before yours. I moved it back to Writing Tools and requested at least an explanation from admin. have just woken up to find it moved back to Xomba! http://www.xomba.com/writing_adsense_revenue_miracles_do_happen jdubhub> as we can all see there are many new members here and these articles are obviously helping the newbies get some perspective on how to be successful - not just on Xomba but on any writing site. Both mine and Joseph's should be in Writing Tips! Join Xomba Here

It happens to me, too, Joe

As I understand it, there are writing articles to help other writers (Writing Tools & Tips) and writing articles to help writers on Xomba (Xomba category). If the information is geared toward general writing, it stays. If it is information about your experience here, it gets moved over to the Xomba category after a short period. I've had a few articles moved over that were well-received as helpful to my fellow Xombies and I'm okay with it. If we are writing for the search engines and bringing in readers off of the SERP page, it shouldn't matter whether it was on the Highest Rated list or not. Even beyond that, Nick and Jeremy did allow it to have time on the Highest Rated list before moving it over, so you did get recognition and expose writers here to your content.
