Nomura's acquisition lehman brothers asian operations may come with a power-packet bonanza for lehman's indiam employees .The japanese financial service major has promised attractive retention bonuses besides maintaining the exiting salary level for lehman's employees across asia .Industry source told ET that Lehman' brass in India may walk away with as much as $25-30 millon collectively.
According to source close to the development,Nomura has indicated that it is willing to distribute the same bonus to employees over the next two years whic has paid in 2007 when contracted lehman india had Tarun Jotwani declined to comment on the bonus offer made to lehman employees or the individual offer made to him lehmans top team which include Mr. Jotwani, Surojit among other likely to collectively bag upto $30 million. Each of the senior team member is being offered seven-figure bonus in dollar. Usually such retaintion bonuses are spread over a period of two years,"Said a mumbai- based headhunter. A senior executed at lehman, who did not wish to be quoted, said nomura is working on creating a compensation pool for Asian employees based on last years pay package. However, he did not disclose the amount allocated for India and also denied that any seprate allocation is being made for senior team in the country. He added Lehman india staff has started signing employment contracts with Nomura.
