Life at the halfway house for garbage from the city
posted August 16, 2007 - 1:54amAt the SF Recycling and Disposal complex in Brisbane, a 6-foot-tall artificial skull and several fake tombstones rest on a hillside spotted with wounded mannequins, Santa statues, stuffed animals and a fleet of Tonka trucks.
This is purgatory for San Francisco trash.
Employees amuse themselves by salvaging and displaying eye-catching items while they transfer 1,400 tons of garbage that comes each day to the Tunnel Avenue complex.
