Like most new things, Commenting in Web 2.0 is a thing you learn by experience. Oh, it's good if you can know all the theories of ettiquette-etc.; but there's only one rule you need to know: Do unto others as you would unto yourself.

The blogging world will bend to that protocol or it will lose.
