A Life Worth Living part 16

Michael made Frankie call Darrell right then and there so he could see. Frankie was nervous, real nervous - he had never been put in this position before. Frankie didn't give a shit about Darrell but he really didn't want to kill him. But, he knew if Michael found out he talked to Darrell without tellin' him, he'd kill his family and him. Frankie really didn't want to die and really wanted to put his clothes back on.

"Look, Darrell lets meet in DC. I'll tell you what's going on - trust me you don't want to come to the city yet and you defintely don't want to see Gino, yet."

Micahel gives Frankie the OK sign and walks out the door.

"Well, Its a good thing I never got on the plane then isn't it. I'd be really pissed if I had done that and then you make me see you in DC, Frankie. Look, how come you can't tell me over the phone?"

"You know how it is Darrell - our friends are everywhere and they have ears. And trust me - it would not be good if Gino finds out you're back in the city haven't done what he asked."

"How do you know it ain't done?"

"Darrell, you're going to have to trust me. Look, he's been runnin' around here cussin' 'bout you. Sayin' he's gonna smack you and your wife around if the job isn't done soon."

"Damnit! I was afraid of that - I'm sure glad I called you first Frankie - you're a life saver."

Michael walks back in and sits down on his chair again.

Darrell knows somethings up. He can feel it and he has learned to trust his feelings. He thinks it may be something in Frankie's voice.

"Where you at now?"

"I'm on Amtrak - didn't trust the plane res. plus I was able to buy the ticket in cash."

"Will you be able to stop in DC?"

"Yeah, I think so. It will cost me a little money since I bought for the city but that's ok."

"Where you want to meet?"

"Let's meet at Union Station. That way I can double back real easy." And there will be lots of people around, you dumbass - you never let the mark pick the spot

"Uh...Ok that sounds good, Union Station - I guess."

"All right. I'll meet you there."

Michael just shakes his head - he can't believe how stupid Frankie really is sometimes.
