This is a list that shows all the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games that are not backwards compatible with the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3). This list is updated as new PS3 firmware editions are released by Sony. The 40GB version of the PS3 is not backwards compatible with any PS2 games because all hardware chips from the former console are omitted.

The Guitar Hero series' games themselves are compatible, but the connector mounted on its special controller originally was not, due to the PS3's lack of ports for PS2 accessories. With the release of third party USB-to-PS2 adapters, the games are now fully playable.
