When I first saw her sitting there, all crisp and clean, neatly folded on my desk, naughty little dates sticking out from one side. Coy little minx. I said to myself right then and their, she’s mine. She lists my world.

Of course, we have an open relationship, and I take full advantage of it; lists litter my desk, my notebooks, My Documents. Listing keeps some semblance of order in my splintered coat rack of a brain, trying to hold up a tugboat.
I came across a few in my excessive searches for organization today that stuck out more than usual. I tend to digress from my actual purpose of being online, but I like to justify as best I can. It keeps the guilt away from my ulcer. In these lists are ideas, and in my own more ideas. In actuality, they’re just plain nonsensical fun.

1. Lists of Bests
This is a cool idea for a couple reasons. It’s not just a collection of lists. Amazon does that. So does Wikipedia, and any other halfway decent media hub. It collects the best of lists as submitted by users or swiped from the big sites, like IMDB’s Top 250 movies, and lets you mark what you’ve seen, read, or listened to from that list. It’s not all pop culture either. I like writing up these lists anyways, and nothing makes my nerd senses tingle more than skimming through Top 100 lists and marking off 80% of it right off the bat.

2. 43 Things
A blog powered message board of sorts. People post a topic. Other people post if they are participating in said topic, and then comment on how so or respond to other people’s comments. It’s basically an organized way of saying, “I like to watch Law and Order: Criminal Intent”, and then two hundred other people can say, “I also enjoy Criminal Intent. Vincent Donofrio is awesome.”

3. 101 Things in 1001 Days
This is a blogger’s task right here. And I like it, and subsequently will be co-opting it for myself shortly. It’s basically this: you make a list of 101 things to accomplish in your life within 1001 days. That’s almost three years to whip it all out. One thing every ten days. It’s a motivator, and a pretty little list that I get to make, so I’m all for it. Now, as long as I can keep numbers 1-99 from being writing projects that I could never get done in that amount of time.

4. Listology.com
It’s a dumping ground for all the lists that are floating around the net. Movies, books, and music. You can even create your own, and then post angry, vicious comments on every list that forgets that one band that you think is a hundred times better than U2.
