January, 2008 is like none other, I will never forget that day, It was the day that someone ran a stop sign while my old man and I were out riding his motorcycle, My old man had no time to react and ran into the car, Causing his helmet to crack about 3 inches in the back, Thus causing him to sustain , bleeding on the brain and the problems he has 14 months after the accident, his memory is getting worse, and so is his attitude, it gets hard sometimes to deal with a person who has in the past been the most loving person in the world to becoming the person who hates everything, Someone who had the best memory in the world to the common every day, What am I doing, I’ve done forgot what I was doing in the middle of doing whatever it was he was doing.
I’ve seen times when he was in the middle of doing dishes and all of a sudden he has forgot that he was washing dishes; He will be out waxing his new motorcycle and forget that he is waxing his motorcycle, and other things he should remember.
Like just now, he asked me if we put gas in my scooter, because he had forgot, that we had gone to the gas station at about 8 am to get a can of gas for his car, and got cigarettes.
He was raised in the city where we live, we have been here once before the wreck and he remembered all of the back roads and all of the places to go and see but does not remember them now. And I am actually worried that I if I go somewhere outside of the house, he might leave and not remember where he is, I dread the day when I get that phone call when he says that he has left the house and is not sure where he is.
The mood swings that we have with him are at times unbearable and it hurts, to see him this way but yet he says that there is nothing wrong with him and is not sure why he is the way he is, he hates to go places and see things now.
Sometimes he can be the most loving man in the world but at others the man you want to hate.
