LIVING WITH CANCER
posted August 12, 2006 - 12:49pmIn May of 2006, I went into the hospital for surgery to remove my adrenal gland. Although I suspected cancer, I did not know what the cause of the enlargment was until I got out of surgery and the doctor told me that I had Malignant Melanoma and that it had spread from my adrenal gland to my right kidney and the lower part of my liver. Chemo was recommended and I went back to the hospital in June for the start of my chemotherapy only to find out that I was bleeding internally. I was in pain and real weak, so the doctor put me back in the hospital and gave me two units of blood. After a week in the hospital, my surgeon returned from vacation and said that surgery to remove the hematoma would be too dangerous. My oncologist also informed me that chemo would not work to reduce the cancer and that he did not recommend it. I know that there are other ways to fight cancer that are not dangerous or toxic and my wife and I are looking into those. One none toxic method is taking a liquid natural juice called NONI from Tahiti. It is said that the juice helps in the healing and promotes better blood flow. Those who have taken it say that it works. I am also taking a multi-vitamin and an Ester C along with a B-Complex pill. Together my wife and I are going to beat this cancer, but when I tell someone that I have cancer, I hear the same thing, "Oh, I am so Sorry!". People with cancer don't need pity, we need encouragement, support and prayers. Cancer patients are scared of the outcome, but we are strong and are willing to continue with our lives no matter what adversities arise. I am still working over 40 hours a week and am keeping busy. That is what makes me continue on in spite of the cancer.
