Lose weight in the Garden
Gardening is great exercise, and if you would like to lose weight in the garden, then try this.
Instead of saving the gardening all for one day, such as Saturday, then spending the night on the couch with a heating pad on your sore muscles, try breaking it up during the week for some added exercise.
Depending on how big your garden is, try making a quick sketch of your garden, and break up the flower beds, for example into manageable sections.
Monday work on one flower bed, and work hard on it, digging, weeding, fertilizing, planting, whatever it is you want, don't look at the rest of the garden and panic at how much work you have to do, just concentrate on this one section you have chosen. Make sure you spend at least 1/2 hour to one hour each day on the garden.
Tuesday, do this again on another section, or maybe Tuesday is lawn cutting day, depending on the weather, but do this each day, and your garden will soon look great and so will you from the exercise, fresh air, and fun.
Once you have taken away the BIG picture which was hard to handle, and broke it down into manageable sections, you will see that your garden can be fun, relaxing, and good for your mind, body and soul, and you should lose a few pounds as an extra bonus!
Sometimes you will come home from work, and just stare at this big yard, and then jump from one job to another, and get stressed and not really enjoy yourself and overwork yourself. Remember 1/2 hour minimum on one section will get a lot done.
Get those digging muscles warmed up before you go out, and you will not be in pain later.

I Lost Weight in my Garden
Just last week I went into my garden to rid it of the weeds. I had the spade in hand. Somewhere around the lettuce patch, I dug deep with spade. Now I'm one finger short. I can only count to nine but I'm a bit slimmer.
Just kidding: good article!
