The days were boring, school couldn't keep Amy's attention. As she sat through her classes all she could think about was getting out of school and heading to work. Victor would be there and that was all she wanted to keep her sane. Home life was hard for Amy. She lived with her mother and step father. Neither of which seemed to like Amy much.

 Deborah, Amy's mother, had raised Amy's and her two sister's to hate their mother. Life with her was hard. Nothing Amy could ever do was right. Nor, was anything ever good enough to please Deborah. When Victor and Amy started dating during her junior year, she was afraid to take Victor home to meet her mother. Amy knew that her mom would find something that she didn't like about Victor. So, when the night came that Victor was to meet Amy's mom, Amy's was relieved when her mom seemed to really like him.

 Once Victor left that evening, Deborah showed her true self. She started in on Amy, asking why Victor would ever want to be with her. She very quickly added that Amy had better not come home pregnant. If she did she needn't come home at all.
