Lupe Fiasco's The Cool also known as just The Cool, is his most recently released album. The album was released on December 18, 2007. Unlike many albums today The Cool tells an actual story throughout many of its songs. Essentially it is about a boy, Michael Young History, from the song He say She say" in Fiasco's first album "Food and Liqour". The boy having grown up with no father finds his mentor to be "The Game". The Game being the embodiment of everything that happens in the typical streets like the drug game. He is described as having dice for eyes and "dro"(marijuana)coming from his body. "The Streets" is thus the other supernatural character in the story. She is the game's wife and uses his followers as her lovers. She has dollar signs for eyes and has the tattoos on her chest of all her former lovers who have died, for example one of them is Al Capone. This duo promises to make Michael cool. The album then goes on to tell how Michael becomes the so called coolest and how he is eventually shot and killed by a suppossed friend. After this occurs of course Streets has his name tattooed in the middle of Streets chest. Again going back to Food and Liqour, the song "The Cool", tells how Michael wakes up in his casket and walks the streets again. Now being nothing more than a zombie, his body becoming a representation for the cool.

The cover to the album shows a sorta of "unholy trinity". This being Michael as the Cool being represented as a skeleton hand because when he arises from the dead all that is left of his right hand is the bones. This being a symbol that Michael has lost all righteousness. Next their is the locket that represents the Streets because she gives the key to her heart to every man she loves. Lastly the Game is represented by the skull because he has dice for eyes and smoke eminates from his being.

While the album is centered on this story, it does have others. Such as one about a hamburger who is a mobster, naturally named "Gotta Eat". No matter what, the rapper known as Lupe Fiasco, is bringing life back to rap. Instead of rapping about typical rapper things like money, girls, and cars, Lupe uses his mastery of storytelling and lyricism to get listeners. Also unlike many others he does not claim to be the greatest nor does he want the title. He is just trying to create good music. Lupe may end up being one of the saviors of Hip-Hop. The cool like his previous album has been given rave reviews higher than most better known rappers.
