MAGIC OF PATIENCE
posted October 4, 2006 - 4:19am
Do you loose your patience when you are caught in traffic jams? Most of us do. Our faces frawn, and we curse ourselves for traveling at a wrong time. We fret and fume. We share our ire with our fellow passengers. We look for people who can understand our
negative feelings. The helpless drivers face our wrath. But, does this all work? Does this lead to some solutions? Not, at all. The jams take their own time to clear off. Instead, we exhaust all our energies. Our faces do not beam with confidence. Our creativity is lost. When we reach our destinations, we don’t behave like winners. We appear to be people who have already lost the race. Due to our pre-conceived notions, we don’t greet people with warmth they deserve. At the work-place, our work too suffers. In short, we are ourself responsible for spoiling our day.
We have become restless breeds these days. We tend to loose our patience at the slightest pretext. Traffic jams are an ultimate test of your patience. If you can manage to stay calm and unruffled during traffic jams, you can win the toughest battles ahead. Divert your attention to something else when you are caught in jams, Praise the beauty of the flowers which are spreading the fragrance all around. Concentrate on the soul-stirring music on the tape. Put up a good smile and engage in some meaningful conversation with your co-passengers. Look at the clouds and pray that it rains so that it cools everybody. Sanjay Verma
