Maine’s Prop 1 – Another Loss for Equality

Maine's Prop 1 passed by a 53% to 47% margin, repealing equal marriage laws in the state and adding the state to a list of states in the US where same sex marriage is not legal. The situation was deja vu from Prop 8 in 2008. This current year has seen a lot of push in pull in gay rights, at the federal and state level. Tuesday's vote in Maine shows there is more work to do, but history shows that the time is close. This blog explores a bit of Maine's result, but more importantly the current events around LGBT rights and some opinions on the near future of them.
