If you are a seafood lover and a Red Lobster fan, then you certainly don’t want to miss the greatest lobster party of the summer – The Maine Lobster Festival.

When: July 29th – August 2nd
Where: Rockland, Maine

This year hosts the 62nd Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland, Maine, and the activities and venues for entertainment are sure to please visitors of all ages. One of the highlights of the event is when King Neptune and his court officially raise the flag to commence the activities and the lobster feasts. The Maine Lobster Festival has recreational activities that center around the whole family. Some of these attractions include: the lobster cooking contest, the marine tent, the parade, and arts and crafts. Of course The Maine Lobster Festival wouldn’t be complete without the lobster crate race and the road races. Be sure to sign up early if you want to participate in these events.

The cost for one of the finest food festivals in the United States is well worth every penny. Wednesday is free admission from noon to 10pm. The cost for admittance for the Maine Lobster Festival on Thursday through Sunday is $8 for adults and $2 for children ages 6-12. Children under the age of five are admitted for free. If you are interested in a four-day pass to the Maine Lobster Festival, the cost is $25 for adults and $8 for children.

Specifically geared for the children are contests and games that will light up their eyes. The kids will be able to enjoy The Maine Lobster Festival by participating in a diaper derby, a costume parade, and a codfish competition. They can also participate in the art show and in the arts and crafts activities that are designed to accommodate the interests of all the various age groups.

One of the grandest events of The Maine Lobster Festival is the tour of the United States Guard Station. This historical event will leave children and adults alike with an appreciation for those who contribute so much in order to perform their civic duty. During the tour of the guard station, you will get to see two of the vessels, The Tackle and the Abbie Burgess.

Why is The Maine Lobster Festival so popular? People love the food! During this fabulous summer event, over 20,000 pounds of lobster is consumed. The activities take place near the water, so the atmosphere is extremely authentic. Don’t miss out on this remarkable summer event.
