Make a great cozy, Cat bed or mat
posted November 7, 2007 - 2:53pmIf you have a cat, that loves to cuddle on everything you own, like your clothes, or the new couch, or your best towels, (mine does this as soon as they come out of the dryer!) then why not make a cute and cozy cat bed?
Find some old clean denim jeans, that you are finished with, and cut 6 squares that measure 7 x 7 inches (you are allowing for a 1/2 inch seam).
Next, sew one row of three together then another row of three together, then sew both rows together to form a rectangle. Make sure and press all seams open to avoid lumps.
Sew again down each side of the seam, for strength and to keep the seams flat. Next find yourself a thick piece of faux fur (you can get this in all colors from the fabric stores, but also check the leftover scrap bins, they are usually cheaper)
Attach your faux fur and sew around the outside edge with the wrong sides together, then clip the outer seams (at right angle to your project to form fringe) and then throw in the washer and dryer and your outer seams will form a fuzzy fringe (from clipping) now you have a great cat bed that you can travel with, or place on your couch or bed, and your cat will snuggle.
Even better, rub a little bit of cat nip on the denim side, and your cat will claim this bed as their own for sure, and will love it... this is a good way to use up those old denim jeans or scraps.
