Making Money at Craft Shows
posted November 2, 2007 - 5:10pmIf you want to make money at craft shows, then you have to make good use of the space you have.
Instead of just sitting there behind one table with all your crafts spread out, try making your space into a welcoming little store.
You usually get a 10 x 10 foot space, one table and one chair, they will usually give you more tables if you need more, sometimes for a small fee.
Make sure to get 3 tables, and put one across the back of your space, and the other 2 up the sides, so as to attract people "into" your craft store.
Most people are being shuffled along the corridor at a craft show, as there is a lot to take in, you need to be able to attract your customers, and invite them in and off the beaten path.
Have some of your best crafts up front and displayed nicely, and then get out of the way, do not hover over your potential customers, let them browse, and you will make sales.
They will like not being bumped and shuffled along the path, which is what will happen if you just have your table at the front of your space, they will have to stop right in the corridor, and at some of these shows, they can get packed.
You need them to feel less stressed, and if possible you stay to one side of your display. With the 3 tables you will be able to display much more of your products.
The last bit of advice... SMILE, it goes a long way!
