We all have moved at one time or the other into a new home or apartment. In fact, the average person moves 2.5 times in their lifetime. It can be a headache if you don't prepare yourself ahead of time for it. Moving into a new home can be a very exciting time of your life as well as a very stressful thing for people to go through. Everything about moving is very time consuming. Picking out a place to live can take months, it is a decision you don't just rush into. You need to prepare your self for your big move.

If you are buying a home, be sure taht it has been inspected for termites, radon, lead, and other harmful or pesty problems. If they havent, you should call your realtor so local inspection agency.

When you find the right home or apartment that you are wanting to move to look and see what your new home needs beforehand. If it needs a fresh coat of paint before moving in try and do this first before you move. If buying a home, and a disclorsure is avalible, ask your realtor to have the sellers take care of any minor maintenance. Make sure your new home is in clean condition before moving your things into it. Fix any problems you know of ahead of time before moving. Doing these things will take alot off your mind before you move. You will have the home ready to move right in and you won't have these things to worry about after moving in.

Never wait until the last minute to pack. When you know for sure you are going to move, start packing and getting the things done you need to. Sometimes it will take you longer then you think to pack your things up. You always have more to pack then it looks like. So start right away and get this done. Throw away or donate things you won't need or use any more so there will be less to move that time comes. Try and organize your things into boxes and mark them with a pen so you know what is in each box when you go to unpack it. And that way you can also take your boxes to the right rooms before unpacking so this is less carrying them around.

If you are moving over the course of several days, or several miles, be sure to take and unpack at least one phone. Other items you should unpack first are bedding, food, pots and pans, and eatary. This way if you cannot make it back to your current residence, you have food and bedding for the night, and a phone in case of an emergancy.
